Donation Drives

Food Drives

Food insecurity is a prevalent issue across the United States and the globe, exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic and the Ukraine invasion. Even though this is a complicated problem, impacted by multiple factors, our goal with every food drive is simply to maximize contributions in an effort to minimize the impact of food insecurity on households in local communities.

Actions

How we support

Linking Hearts works with individual donors and organizations to set up collection boxes and depots for non-perishable goods. Additionally, we organize drives based on holidays, events, and special events or requests.  If you would like to discuss an event or partnership opportunity, please contact us here.

Partners and Resources

Clothing Drives

From new babies to new graduates to job interview preparedness, your clothing donations go a long way. With benefits to the environment (reducing landfill deposition, resulting in less harmful emissions), disaster victims, and veterans, your donations will impact a wide array of people in need for years to come.

Actions

How we support

We organize clothing drives throughout the year, and we can only continue this work with the help of local communities. We ask that our donors contribute new, or like-new, contemporary clothes. This includes coats, jackets, and warm outerwear for children and adults as the temperatures drop, along with shorts, T-shirts, and breathable fabrics for when temperatures rise. Breathable fabrics include cotton, nylons, polyesters, rayons, silk, and linen. Of course, any professional clothing is always welcome, including suits, blazers, slacks, dresses, and more. If you would like to discuss an event or partnership opportunity, please contact us here.

Furniture And Household Items

From hauling to disassembly and assembly, furniture and appliances are some of the hardest items to donate and collect. Still, there are families in need who will benefit greatly from gently used furniture items as they work to rebuild, following life-changing circumstances like divorce or housefires. This includes comfortable, sturdy beds of all sizes (no mattresses) for family members to sleep, and chairs and kitchen tables for families to eat meals and tackle homework together.

Actions

How we support

We are unable to facilitate every furniture and appliance donation request due to the availability of packing and transport resources. However, we encourage our donors to check with us as we build capacity with local organizations to assist where they can. If you are interested in working with us to provide packing and/or delivery services, please contact us here.

School Supply Drives

Students and teachers excel when they have the resources they need. Kids, parents, and school systems benefit from community-based school supply drives, and local mobilization efforts provide access to basic learning necessities and tools like crayons and writing tablets. Our mission is to increase the quality of education for kids across local areas, especially those from underserved neighborhoods for whom school supplies are often a major expense.

Actions

How we support

We host one-day collection events and partner with community leaders and organizations to  build longer term donation drives and larger initiatives. We also coordinate LHTX drop-points, which are Linking Hearts sponsored, “drive-by” donation sites where members of the community can pull up and drop off school supplies like pencils, notebooks, binders, crayons, markers, etc., right from their vehicles).
